Agoura Hills Real Estate and Information

Agoura Hills

Welcome to the Community!

Located in the Santa Monica Mountians foothills just 30 minuets from urban centers, the city sits among oak covered canyons and hillsides.

The city calls itself the Gateway to the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, and is situated on Highway 101 at the western edge of Los Angeles County, giving its residents easy access to urban entertainment, cultural activities, nearby beaches and open spaces.

The city is home to good schools, low crime and lots of open space, including horse keeping properties in the Old Agoura neighborhood, giving it a rural feel.

There are mountains to hike or bike through and 80 acres in six parks ranging from small neighborhood parks to an equestrian center. There are recreation opportunities for everyone from toddlers to seniors. And if it gets too hot, the beach is only a few miles away.

Agoura Hills Information:

Location: 40 Miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles

Origin of Name: The Communities name was chosen in 1928 to honor early settler Pierre Agoura, but through misspelling or for ease of pronunciation, the Postal Service changed it to Agoura. It became Agoura Hills with the city's incorporation program.
